The Ochos Rios area (Boscobel), where Summerwind is located, is found on the north coast of Jamaica. There are many historical sites, botanical gardens, and other attractions in the vicinity.

Jamaica is 4442 square miles, which is about the size of the US state of Connecticut. It is the third largest island in the Caribbean. Jamaica lies 90 miles south of Cuba and 600 miles south of Miami, FL.

The climate in Jamaica is tropical maritime. The seasons are nonexistent, but the weather patterns can change quickly. This happens most often during the hurricane season. Jamaica 's hurricane season begins June1st and goes until November 30th, with August and September being the peak months. A traditional rhyme in Jamaica is "June too soon, July stand by, August prepare you must, September remember, October all over." The average coastal temperature is 80-86 degrees, year round, although February and March are usually the coolest months. The local time in Jamaica is five hours behind GMT. In the autumn and winter, the time in Jamaica is the same as the time for the East Coast in the US. Jamaica does not adjust their time for Daylight Savings Time. In their Summer and Spring (April-October), Jamaica is one hour behind the East Coast time.
